The Supreme Council of National Resistance for the Salvation of Afghanistan, committed to the fundamental values of human rights and rooted in the principles of justice and rule of law, supports the recent resolution passed by the United Nations General Assembly concerning the human rights situation, governance, and rule of law in Afghanistan. The Supreme Council, underlines on the role of the United Nations in resolving our country’s crisis, but alerts of the consequences of any kind of unilateral and naïve interaction with the Taliban group.
This resolution comes at a time when the people of Afghanistan—especially women, girls, ethnic and religious minorities, civil activists, and journalists—are facing the most severe forms of repression, deprivation, and discrimination. Fundamental freedoms have been trampled upon, legal institutions have been dismantled, and political participation has effectively been silenced and eliminated.
The Supreme Council considers this resolution a fitting response to the clear and powerful voice of the Afghan people, particularly the proud women of the country—people who, despite immense suffering and restrictions, continue to demand a future based on freedom, justice, and the rule of law.
We firmly believe that rebuilding Afghanistan’s future can only be achieved through dialogue, inclusive participation, the guarantee of human rights, equal citizenship, and respect for human dignity and the diversity of society. No regime can endure without public legitimacy and adherence to democratic principles.
The Supreme Council of National Resistance calls on United Nations member states, human rights organizations, and the international community to practically support the provisions of this resolution and to respond decisively and responsibly—with legal, diplomatic, and political measures—against the violators of human rights in Afghanistan.
