The Supreme Council of National Resistance for the Salvation of Afghanistan, while expressing its deep and sincere gratitude to the brotherly and culturally aligned government of the Republic of Tajikistan for its generous hospitality and humanitarian actions toward Afghan refugees, believes that responsible approaches based on the principles of international humanitarian law have always enhanced Tajikistan’s standing in regional and global affairs.
In light of the bitter and concerning political, security, and human rights developments in Afghanistan, hundreds of thousands of Afghan citizens have been forced to leave their homeland. Forcibly returning them at a time when Afghanistan still lacks even the most basic conditions of security, rule of law, and protection of citizens’ lives and fundamental freedoms, would not only be considered a violation of international commitments regarding the rights of refugees but would also entail serious humanitarian risks and regional consequences.
Furthermore, a significant portion of Afghan refugees in Tajikistan possess visas and legal residency, and their presence in the country is within the framework of national laws and public order.
Therefore, the Supreme Council of National Resistance, with a responsible approach and based on the shared principles of coexistence, cultural brotherhood, and universal human rights values, respectfully requests the esteemed government of the Republic of Tajikistan to refrain from any forced deportation of Afghan refugees and to continue its supportive and humanitarian policies.
We are confident that the enlightened leadership and the great people of Tajikistan will continue to stand by the oppressed people of Afghanistan and, in collaboration with international institutions, will play a prominent role in finding sustainable and dignity-based solutions for refugees.
