The Supreme Council, expressing profound sorrow and regret, strongly condemns the tragic shooting incident that occurred on Friday afternoon near a recreational area in Injil district of Herat province, which resulted in the martyrdom and injury of a number of innocent citizens. The Council extends its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, the honorable people of Herat, and the entire nation of Afghanistan.

The Supreme Council considers this tragic event as a sign of the continuity of the deeply concerning security and humanitarian situation in the country, and emphasizes that the continuation of the Taliban group’s extremist, monopolistic, and discriminatory policies and approaches has paved the way for the expansion of violence and the occurrence of such human tragedies. The Council holds the Taliban responsible for the continuation of insecurity and the conditions that give rise to such bloody incidents, and believes that the continuation of this situation poses the greatest threat to the lives and security of the defenseless people of Afghanistan.

The Council also expresses serious concern over the continuation of ethnic and religious prejudices, emphasizing that such approaches are in contradiction with the principles of national coexistence, social justice, and nationwide unity, and constitute a serious obstacle to achieving lasting stability and inclusive peace in the country. Afghanistan is the shared homeland of all ethnic groups and segments of society, and ensuring equal rights and respecting ethnic and religious diversity are fundamental prerequisites for a secure, stable, and violence-free future.

The Supreme Council of National Resistance for the Salvation of Afghanistan expresses its deep sympathy with the families of the victims and prays for the swift recovery of those injured in this incident. It also stresses the necessity of ending violence, ensuring the security of citizens, and adopting responsible approaches toward the fate of the people of Afghanistan.

The Supreme Council once again strongly condemns this violent act and expresses hope that the people of Afghanistan, under the shadow of justice, national solidarity, and respect for the rights of all citizens, will witness the end of violence and the establishment of lasting peace and stability in the country.
