The Supreme Council of National Resistance declares its firm and comprehensive support for the right of girls to education, learning, and upbringing; for the preservation and strengthening of the country’s core education system; and for women’s legitimate rights to work, freedom, and social participation. We believe that education is a fundamental right of every human being and the cornerstone of progress, justice, awareness, and lasting stability in Afghanistan.
Today, the people of Afghanistan, especially women and girls, are facing widespread restrictions and deprivations imposed on society by the Taliban. Closing the doors of schools and universities to girls, depriving women of work and social participation, restricting fundamental freedoms, and weakening educational and cultural institutions are clear examples of violations of the human and civil rights of the Afghan people.
The Supreme Council of National Resistance holds the Taliban directly responsible for this situation and emphasizes that the continuation of these authoritarian policies will drive Afghanistan toward ignorance, poverty, isolation, and deep social crises. No society can achieve prosperity and stability by suppressing women and depriving the younger generation of education.
Furthermore, working women in Afghanistan are facing serious economic and social challenges and, in many cases, are deprived of their rights, benefits, and fair employment opportunities. The reduction of job opportunities, the lack of job security, and disregard for women’s fundamental rights have placed a heavy burden on the lives of millions of our fellow citizens.
The Supreme Council of National Resistance calls upon all religious scholars, intellectuals, civil society organizations, national figures, freedom-loving forces, and the international community to stand alongside the people of Afghanistan—especially women and girls—in support of the rights to education, freedom, justice, and human dignity, and not to remain silent in the face of oppression and deprivation.
We believe that the future of Afghanistan will be built on knowledge, awareness, justice, and the equal participation of all citizens, and that no power can extinguish the light of knowledge and freedom forever.
