In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful

It is with profound sorrow that the Supreme Council of National Resistance for the Salvation of Afghanistan has learned of the devastating floods that struck Nuristan Province and several other provinces of the country. These heartbreaking disasters have caused the greatest destruction in Nuristan, while the provinces of Nangarhar, Panjshir, Parwan, Logar, Khost, and Kapisa have also suffered tragic loss of life, injuries to many of our fellow citizens, and extensive material damage. Once again, these calamities have plunged countless families into mourning and cast a deep shadow of grief across Afghanistan.

The Supreme Council of National Resistance for the Salvation of Afghanistan extends its heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathies to the families of those who lost their lives, the honorable people of Nuristan, and all affected fellow citizens. We pray to Almighty Allah to grant His boundless mercy upon the deceased, a swift and complete recovery to the injured, patience and perseverance to the bereaved families, and comfort, relief, and hope to all those affected by this tragedy.

What the people of Afghanistan are experiencing today is not merely the consequence of a natural disaster; it is also the result of years of neglect, the absence of proper planning, and the lack of adequate preparedness to respond to such emergencies. Rather than establishing effective disaster management mechanisms, strengthening emergency response institutions, and safeguarding the lives and property of citizens, the authoritarian Taliban regime has, through incompetence, inefficiency, and irresponsibility, left the Afghan people exposed and vulnerable to natural disasters. This has significantly increased the human and financial toll of such tragedies.

The Council calls upon the United Nations, national and international humanitarian and relief organizations, friendly and neighboring countries, humanitarian agencies, the business community, philanthropists, and all people of goodwill to urgently provide effective assistance for the rescue of missing persons, the treatment of the injured, the sheltering of displaced and affected families, and the provision of the immediate humanitarian needs of the population, particularly in Nuristan Province.

The Council also calls on all fellow Afghans to uphold the spirit of national solidarity and shared responsibility by standing alongside the victims of this tragedy and playing an active and compassionate role in alleviating their suffering, especially that of the honorable people of Nuristan.
