In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate

We congratulate the people of Afghanistan, especially the honorable families of the martyrs of the struggle for freedom and independence, on the arrival of the 8th of Saur, the anniversary of the liberating jihad of the Afghanistan people against the former Soviet Union and its internal puppets. We honor the memory of the millions of martyrs of Afghanistan during the era of jihad and resistance, as well as the martyrs of the country’s security and defense forces in the fight against international terrorism, and we send salutations to each and every one of their pure souls.

Dear and honorable compatriots,

Our beloved country has been plagued by crisis, war, poverty, and political turmoil for nearly half a century. Undoubtedly, the roots of this ongoing crisis lie in shameless foreign interventions as well as internal tyranny and historical oppression.

The invasion by the former Soviet army was one of the bitterest events in our country’s modern history, during which millions of citizens were martyred, wounded, or displaced. Yet, the courageous people of Afghanistan rose up in a historic and determined resistance against that full-scale invasion and its internal agents. Ultimately, they dismantled the Eastern imperialism of that era and its puppet regime, erasing them from history.

However, regrettably, events after the victory and continued foreign interference placed the country once again into crisis—a situation which still persists today, but in an even deeper and more complex form.

Today, we are facing a new kind of occupation and historical oppression, where a criminal and terrorist group, through an international conspiracy and foreign support, has taken control of the country and deprived the Afghan people of all their fundamental rights, taking them hostage.

Sadly, our homeland has turned into a large prison for all its inhabitants. Women—who make up half of society—have been stripped of all human rights, including the right to education, work, participation, and all basic freedoms. The ethnic groups, religions, languages, and diverse cultures of the country, which once symbolized beauty, diversity, and peaceful coexistence, are now completely suppressed and silenced.

Severe oppression is being imposed on the people under the pretext of enforcing religion and Sharia. Day by day, the grip of this tyranny tightens. Killing, torture, abduction, and repression continue before the eyes of the world.

Without a doubt, we are now facing another crucial test. The current situation in the country requires that the Afghan people, inspired by the freedom-seeking jihad against the former Soviet Union and the pure spirits of the martyrs of Afghanistan’s dignity, continue their struggle until full freedom and independence are achieved, and a government based on the people’s will is established.

Undeniably, circumstances have changed, and so have the methods of struggle. Fortunately, today, the brave and free women of the country are leading the resistance against the current extremism and despotism. The primitive logic of the ruling group has collapsed in the face of their fight. The narrative of Taliban repression and backwardness has failed, and this group is now more disgraced than ever. Despite the suppression of free expression and the shutdown of independent media, every Afghan, wherever they are in the world, has become a voice and a platform. A widespread campaign and collective struggle against darkness and tyranny is underway.

The Supreme Council of National Resistance for the Salvation of Afghanistan, as the largest political umbrella composed of political parties, jihadi figures, women’s organizations, civil society actors, and human rights activists, honors the anniversary of the sacred jihad of the Afghan people against the Soviet Union and its internal collaborators. It once again pledges to continue its struggle—alongside other political movements and various segments of society—against the current oppression and tyranny, until freedom, justice, and a legitimate system based on the will of the people is established.

We also once again call on all countries and international institutions to end their unilateral engagement with a terrorist group that still glorifies its past crimes and has created a safe haven for dozens of other terrorist organizations, posing a serious threat to the region and the world. We urge them to support the people of Afghanistan in establishing a just and legitimate system.
