The National Assembly for the Salvation of Afghanistan, with deep regret and concern, strongly condemns the recent decision of the Russian Federation to recognize the Taliban. This decision comes at a time when Afghanistan is experiencing a critical and alarming situation, and the noble people of this country face daily, systematic, and blatant violations of their fundamental rights.

Recognizing the Taliban—a group that, from the beginning of its rule, has used force and repression to trample on the fundamental values of the Afghan nation, including women’s rights, civil liberties, and social justice—amounts to disregarding the aspirations of millions of Afghans and ignoring the fundamental principles of human rights and international law.

The National Assembly for the Salvation of Afghanistan calls on the international community, the United Nations, and all responsible governments to recognize the Taliban as a tyrannical and human-rights-violating group, and to firmly refrain from any political, economic, or diplomatic actions that would lead to legitimizing this group.

We believe that lasting peace and security in Afghanistan can only be achieved through respect for the genuine will of the people, the realization of justice, and the guarantee of fundamental freedoms. Granting legitimacy to authoritarian groups will not only prolong the crisis and instability in the country but will also create security threats for the region.

The National Assembly, while reaffirming its commitment to the oppressed and resilient people of Afghanistan, emphasizes that it stands with them and will continue to support all legitimate efforts to achieve justice, freedom, and the rule of law in Afghanistan.
