The Taliban group, which emerged from a background of terrorist strategy and international conspiracy, has nothing in its dark and disgraceful record but primitivism, barbarism, mass killings, suicide attacks, and the suppression of innocent people. In recent days, coinciding with the holy days of Eid al-Adha, this group has intensified its repression, creating an atmosphere of suffocation and increasing harassment of the people in various parts of the country.

The suppression and mistreatment of people in Badakhshan—who have grown exhausted from the lawlessness and adventurism of this group’s members; the attacks by armed nomads in various areas of the central region, especially the assault on poor and defenseless homes in Behsud district with the direct support of the Taliban; the threats and insults against civilians in Kabul; the arrest and intimidation of people under the pretext of sacrificial slaughter in some areas of Daikundi province due to their adherence to Shi’a religious authorities—and the creation of fear and terror in that province; as well as the mass suppression and detention of protestors against the blatant injustices of this group’s rogue forces in Faryab province—are only part of the oppression and cruelty committed by this group in recent days.

The National Assembly for the Salvation of Afghanistan strongly condemns the arbitrary and oppressive actions of the Taliban group against the defenseless people of Afghanistan in recent days across the country. It once again affirms that this group has not abandoned its terrorist nature and has rather intensified its autocratic actions. Contrary to the propaganda of some countries, lobbyists, and the group’s partners in international forums and media, there has been absolutely no change in this group. Instead, it has developed even more mechanisms for repression and tyranny.

The inhumane behavior, gender apartheid, and fascist actions of this group over the past four years, and its continued oppression in recent days, clearly demonstrate this fact.

Therefore, once again, we call upon all international organizations and both neighboring and distant countries to cease any unilateral engagement with a group that lacks any legal or legitimate government framework, represents not even a small segment of the Afghan population, and has paved the way for major terrorist threats in the region. Otherwise, sooner or later, the consequences of empowering this group will engulf everyone.
