The shocking news of the shooting at Afghan refugees, who were fleeing the brutality prevailing in Afghanistan and seeking work and sustenance for their families in the Islamic Republic of Iran, has deeply concerned and saddened the Supreme National Resistance Council for the Salvation of Afghanistan.
Afghanistan was handed over to the Taliban three years ago as a result of an international conspiracy, with the support of regional countries and elements within the government. Since this tragic event, the Afghan people have faced various hardships and difficulties.
The latest event, alongside increasing pressure on suffering Afghan refugees in the Islamic Republic of Iran, is the report of shootings at some of our compatriots at the Iran border. This attack, which led to the martyrdom and injury of dozens of our innocent and defenseless compatriots, has no place in international law treaties, migration rights conventions, or the principles of good neighborliness, religious ties, and cultural commonalities.
It is unexpected that our friend, brother, and neighbor, the Islamic Republic of Iran, understanding the depth of the tragedy and crisis engulfing Afghanistan, as well as the historical, religious, and cultural ties and the suffering and vulnerability of our people, would resort to such a bloody act, spilling the blood of those who “had sought refuge there from unfortunate events.” This incident, occurring while our people are already suffering from the miseries caused by the Taliban’s control, adds to their burdens in an unexpected manner.
While appreciating all the support, cooperation, and solidarity of the Islamic Republic of Iran in supporting the jihad and resistance of the Afghan people, the Supreme National Resistance Council strongly condemns the recent incident and expects Iranian authorities to identify and prosecute those responsible after conducting necessary investigations, ensuring that such actions do not damage the deep ties between the two countries.
The Supreme National Resistance Council extends its condolences to the bereaved families of the martyrs and wishes full recovery for the injured.
