The Supreme Council of National Resistance for the Salvation of Afghanistan strongly condemns the criminal and inhumane attack by the Taliban militia on the defenseless people of Khash district in Badakhshan province.
Once again, the Taliban have proven that they have no commitment to human dignity, Islamic principles, or international human rights laws. In these brutal attacks, civilians were tortured, humiliated, and killed—merely for demanding justice and protesting widespread poverty and the complete lack of employment opportunities.
The Supreme Council of Resistance clearly declares that during the four years of their rule, the Taliban have not taken any step toward ensuring justice, reducing poverty, or building a legitimate government based on the will of the people. Instead, through force, violence, terror, and suppression, they have taken the people of Afghanistan hostage.
The policy of suppressing popular uprisings, spreading fear, and carrying out summary trials occurred in Badakhshan today, in Panjshir yesterday, and if the world and the conscience of the international community remain silent, it will be repeated elsewhere tomorrow.
We call on international institutions, the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, regional countries, and all human rights organizations to seriously investigate and document these crimes, hold the Taliban accountable for their inhumane acts, and listen to the voice of the oppressed people of Afghanistan and stand by them.
The Supreme Council of Resistance stands firmly alongside the popular uprisings and all independent and justice-seeking movements.
The people of Afghanistan have the right to live in peace and security, with dignity, and to enjoy the rights to education, work, and free choice
