The Supreme Council of National Resistance for the Salvation of Afghanistan, in full commitment to human values, justice, freedom, and the human dignity of the citizens of the country, welcomes the adoption of the United Nations Human Rights Council’s resolution on the human rights situation in Afghanistan and declares its full support for its contents.

The Council, while appreciating the principled and conscientious stance of the international community, emphasizes that this resolution reflects the bitter and painful reality of the people of Afghanistan—people who, under the rule of the tyrannical Taliban group, have been deprived of their most basic human rights.

The Supreme Council of National Resistance for the Salvation of Afghanistan welcomes the clear stance of the UN Human Rights Council in condemning discrimination, repression, and systematic violence against Afghan women and girls as a blatant violation of human rights. In addition to these violations, the Council also highlights issues such as ethnic, political, and religious purges, forced displacement, and the settlement of foreign terrorists in the homes and localities of Afghan citizens. It supports the establishment of an independent international mechanism for investigating and documenting crimes in Afghanistan and stresses the necessity of holding all perpetrators of gross human rights violations particularly the leaders of the tyrannical Taliban group accountable.

The Supreme Council of Resistance calls on the international community to exert political and diplomatic pressure on the Taliban to compel them to immediately end all forms of discrimination, arbitrary arrests, torture, inhumane punishments, and educational and employment restrictions against women and girls. The Council also urges international institutions to take practical and effective measures to protect human rights defenders, journalists, artists, and civil activists inside and outside the country, and to ensure the provision of humanitarian and legal support.

Furthermore, the Council expresses its sincere gratitude to the countries and organizations that are cooperating in the international pursuit of human rights violations in Afghanistan particularly within the framework of the International Criminal Court and the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women. It emphasizes that ending impunity and establishing justice are prerequisites for sustainable peace and real stability in Afghanistan, and that any indifference toward the systematic violation of human rights constitutes a betrayal of the human conscience.

The Supreme Council of National Resistance for the Salvation of Afghanistan, in unison with the people of the country and the international community, calls for a free, just, and humane future a future in which no woman, man, or child is deprived of their rights on the basis of gender, ethnicity, religion, or belief.
