The Taliban group, continuing its inhumane and un-Islamic behavior toward the people of Afghanistan, has in its latest action, under the title of the “Penal Code Guidelines of the Courts”, openly violated the fundamental principles of human dignity and religious and sectarian equality.
By enforcing explicit religious discrimination, this group recognizes only the followers of one sect as Muslims and labels the followers of other sects as heretics. Contrary to the teachings of the holy religion of Islam, it divides society in a primitive, medieval manner into different classes.
Through this approach, the Taliban has effectively legitimized slavery, portraying women as concubines and husbands as masters and owners of women, and has imposed a series of humiliating punishments that violate human norms upon society.
The Supreme Council of National Resistance for the Salvation of Afghanistan believes that exerting pressure on followers of other sects and creating an atmosphere of discrimination, fear, and exclusion will drive the country toward greater division, instability, and violence, and will seriously threaten peaceful coexistence in Afghanistan.
Such an approach not only stands in clear contradiction to Islamic teachings, but also completely violates the fundamental principles of human rights, freedom of belief, and human dignity, and is therefore rejected from the perspective of the High Council of Resistance.
The history of Islam bears witness to the diversity of thought and belief within the Islamic comunity, and no group has the right, through a narrow, monopolistic, and extremist interpretation, to deprive others of their religious and human rights.
Dividing society into higher and lower classes, slaves and masters, is an unacceptable act and contrary to human dignity. The only path to social stability lies in emphasizing the inherent equality of all human beings.
The Supreme Council of Resistance considers this Taliban action to be an organized effort aimed at the complete elimination of women, children, and other vulnerable groups. It believes that these behaviors not only trample on human dignity, but also represent a deliberate attempt to distort the image of Islam in global public opinion, pushing Afghanistan into a condition far worse than the Middle Ages.
With this irresponsible approach, the Taliban has, on the one hand, subjected the lives of the people of Afghanistan to serious challenges, and on the other hand, will continue to remain a potential threat to regional and global security.
Furthermore, through killings, the looting of people’s property, increased forced migration, and the worsening economic crisis, the Taliban has inflicted deep and devastating impacts on society, paralyzing the lives of the people.
The Supreme Council of National Resistance for the Salvation of Afghanistan calls on the international community, especially member states of the International Criminal Court, human rights organizations, the European Union, and the United Nations, to act before it is too late.
It urges the world to stop this process and, by applying maximum pressure on the Taliban, to refrain from any political or diplomatic engagement with this extremist group whose terrorist practices have resulted in widespread crimes against humanity.
