In 2024, the world witnessed significant events and devastating crises across various domains, including political, economic, and social spheres, which had a direct impact on the lives of millions worldwide. The escalation of tensions, particularly in our region (the Middle East), led to the deaths, injuries, and displacement of thousands and triggered a new wave of migration to both nearby and distant countries. Unemployment and poverty rates rose dramatically, becoming one of the most serious and deadly crises.
For the oppressed people of Afghanistan, especially the women and girls of the country, 2024 was an even more challenging year, marked by increased restrictions in security, economic, social, and legal domains, which have paralyzed the lives of the Afghan people. Poverty, hunger, illiteracy, and unemployment surged to alarming levels, plunging Afghanistan into one of the darkest and bleakest periods in its history.
The existing tensions and challenges in the world, the region, and particularly in our beloved country Afghanistan, as well as the aspiration to create a world free of war and violence, require collective efforts, collaboration, and continuous regional and international support.
The High Council of National Resistance for the Salvation of Afghanistan hopes that the new year will be a year of collective efforts and international cooperation, a year of progress, prosperity, security, unity, and solidarity, and a year in which the political, economic, and social crises, as well as violence, instability, oppression, and injustice in the world, particularly in our dear Afghanistan, are eradicated.
