In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful

The Mujahid and free people of Afghanistan,

Today, on the fourteenth anniversary of the martyrdom of the Martyr of Peace, Professor Ustad Burhanuddin Rabbani, the prominent leader of jihad and politics in our country, we honor with grief and pride the memory of that great figure in contemporary history.

Ustad Rabbani dedicated his entire blessed life to the struggle for independence, freedom, social justice, and the elevation of Islamic and national values. As the leader of Jamiat-e-Islami of Afghanistan and later as the elected President of the country, he played a prominent role in leading jihad, resistance, and national politics. He always believed that the future of Afghanistan depended on justice, political participation, and lasting peace.

The martyred Ustad continually suffered from the continuation of war, bloodshed, and insecurity in the country. For this reason, in the final years of his political struggle, he accepted the historic and weighty responsibility of the High Peace Council from the position of a national leader, regarding it as both a religious and national duty. With sincerity and commitment, he took practical steps toward ending the war and establishing a just peace; however, the enemies of peace, fearing that his efforts would dismantle the foundations of violence and tyranny in the country, ultimately martyred him in a treacherous manner on September 20, 2011 (29th of Sunbula, 1390) disguised as an ambassador of peace.

The High Council of National Resistance, while honoring the memory of Ustad Rabbani with respect and pride, emphasizes continuing his path and realizing his aspirations in the struggle for freedom, justice, democracy, and lasting peace. We believe that his blood, along with that of other martyrs of the path of freedom, is a shining torch that illuminates the road to the salvation of the country.

Furthermore, the High Council of National Resistance, in its efforts to save Afghanistan, while commemorating the lofty status of Ustad Rabbani, sends salutations to the pure souls of all martyrs of independence and justice—especially the national hero of the country, Martyr Ahmad Shah Massoud; the Martyr of National Unity, Ustad Abdul Ali Mazari; Martyr Ustad Sayed Mustafa Kazemi; Martyr Ustad Zabihullah; Martyr Haji Abdul Qadir; Martyr Mutalib Baig; Martyr Ahmad Khan Samangani; Martyr General Mohammad Dawood Dawood; Martyr General Abdul Raziq Achakzai; Martyr Engineer Mohammad Omar; Martyr Khan Mohammad Mujahid; Martyr Mawlana Abdul Rahman Sayedkhili; Martyr Abu Zar Ghaznawi; Martyr Ashur Pahlawan; Martyr Abdul Mohammad; the martyrs of the defense and security forces of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan; and all the martyrs of the past four years. We honor their memory, pray for their souls, and wish for their names to remain eternal.

May the soul of the Martyr of Peace, Professor Ustad Burhanuddin Rabbani, and all martyrs of the path of freedom be at peace, their memory honored, and their path forever followed.
