The presidential election in the United States was successfully held in a democratic and vibrant atmosphere, in which Mr. Donald Trump once again gained the trust of his people and, by receiving more votes than his electoral rival, was elected as the 47th President of the United States.
The High Council of National Resistance for the Salvation of Afghanistan congratulates the government and people of America on the successful conduct of the election and hopes that the beginning of the new U.S. administration will lead to a reformed policy toward Afghanistan, addressing the Afghan people’s call for the revival of democracy and the rule of law.
Regrettably, the disastrous and unplanned U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan and the handover of the country to the Taliban, which took place under the failed Doha Agreement, has plunged our land into terrorism and extremism. This action led to the collapse of the previous government and security institutions, the exclusion of women from all structures, widespread human rights violations, and the displacement of millions from Afghanistan.
It is expected that the new administration will identify and hold accountable those who, in the name of the U.S. government, contributed to creating the current crisis in Afghanistan. In its future actions concerning Afghanistan, it should rely on individuals who hold an impartial, just, and people-centered perspective on Afghanistan, respecting the will of the Afghan people.
As Mr. Trump has promised, it is expected that the destructive wars currently raging in various countries around the world and the ongoing crisis in Afghanistan will come to an end, and that fair peace will be established worldwide.
