The Supreme Council of National Resistance for the Salvation of Afghanistan strongly condemns the continued illegal, unprofessional, and excessive extraction of the country’s mines, particularly in Badakhshan province. What is currently taking place in Badakhshan and several other provinces of the country is a blatant seizure of national resources and the plundering of assets that belong to all the people of Afghanistan. The non-standard extraction of minerals, without observing technical principles and national interests, has not only endangered the country’s economic infrastructure but has also placed the rights of future generations at serious risk.

While the people of Afghanistan are struggling with poverty, unemployment, and severe economic and livelihood crises, the revenues generated from the country’s natural resources are not being used for public welfare and national interests. Instead, they are being spent on strengthening extremist structures and securing the personal interests of Taliban leaders. Evidence shows that this process is not limited to Badakhshan alone; in several other provinces, national resources have also been illegally seized and exploited.

The Supreme Council of National Resistance also strongly condemns the killing of civilians, the suppression of public protests, and the Taliban’s violent treatment of the residents of Badakhshan. The use of force, intimidation, beatings, and humiliating treatment against the people reflects the oppressive and anti-people nature of this extremist group. Furthermore, the adoption and enforcement of the Taliban’s harsh and inhumane laws, the restriction of fundamental freedoms, and the insults and disrespect shown toward Shiite religious scholars in Kabul demonstrate the continuation of extremist, discriminatory, and divisive policies that pose a serious threat to the country’s national unity and social stability.

The Supreme Council of National Resistance emphasizes that the country’s natural resources are the shared property of the people of Afghanistan and must be managed on the basis of transparency, rule of law, and national interests — not for the benefit of a particular group or the continuation of repressive policies. We call upon the people of Afghanistan, national figures, religious scholars, civil society organizations, and the international community not to remain silent in the face of the seizure of national resources, violations of human rights, and the suppression of the people, and to stand responsibly and united in defense of justice, human dignity, and the future of Afghanistan.
