The Supreme Council of National Resistance for the Salvation of Afghanistan considers the recent tragic incident in Nangarhar, which resulted in the killing and injury of innocent children, women, and elderly civilians, a matter of serious concern. Targeting civilians is a clear violation of humanitarian and moral principles as well as all accepted international norms.
While expressing our sincere condolences to the families of the victims, we share in the grief and suffering of the oppressed people of Afghanistan and emphasize our human and national responsibility to defend the lives and dignity of the country’s citizens.
The Supreme Council of Resistance believes that the current situation is a direct result of the violence-driven Taliban group—a situation that has turned Afghanistan into a field of repeated regional conflicts, with the defenseless people of the country paying the highest price. This crisis is not limited to a single neighboring country, and if this approach continues, it may be repeated in the future with other countries as well.
The Supreme Council of Resistance emphasizes that a sustainable exit from this cycle of violence, insecurity, and the victimization of the people requires a fundamental structural change and the end of a regime that neither represents the will of the people nor has the capacity to ensure security, stability, and responsible regional and international relations. The realization of peace, the protection of citizens’ lives, and the safeguarding of Afghanistan’s national interests are only possible through the establishment of a legitimate, accountable system that emerges from the will of the people.
The Supreme Council of Resistance once again underscores that it stands alongside the people of Afghanistan and will continue its political and national efforts to achieve this necessary change and to secure a safe and dignified future.
